Roll Back Malaria Partnership Annual Retreat

The Roll Back Malaria Partnership’s (RBM) Private Sector Members Council met for its Annual Retreat in New York from October 22-23 2015. Hosted by GBCHealth, the meeting provided an opportunity for the Council to discuss the ongoing transition at the RBM Partnership and the proposed Governance Framework of the revitalized Partnership. At the retreat, the PSMC heard further details from Admiral Tim Ziemer, Co-Chair of RBM’s Transition Oversight and Alan Court, Special Advisor to the UN Special Envoy, who has been leading development of the new Governance Framework.

The two day deliberations allowed the PSMC to put forward its recommendations on the Governance Framework, agree to a way forward in how it coordinates itself in light of the changes within RBM, and most importantly, determine where and how it can provide the most meaningful support during the transition phase. Since then, PSMC members have worked closely with the Transition Oversight Committee to refine the Governance Framework, including a structure for the new Partner Committees and have been working to solicit input from malaria-affected countries and other stakeholders on the proposed architecture. Private Sector Board members will attend a milestone Board Meeting on December 10-11 in Geneva, Switzerland, where final decisions will be made on the future of the RBM Partnership.
