New Private Sector Partnership Led by GSK Raises £22 million to improve health systems for malaria

Margaret ArbogastNews

GSK and UK-based charity Comic Relief have announced a £22 million partnership providing grant funding to organizations addressing malaria and improving health systems in some of the world’s worst-affected regions. Grant recipients in Ghana, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and the Greater Mekong region will benefit from this collaboration, which will promote research into medicines and vaccines, improve the supply of anti-malarial products and offer support for community health care workers. Implemented over a five-year period, the program will offer grants which not only support current malaria programs, but will also build sustainable ways to access diagnostic and prevention services.

Building on the progress made thus far in malaria control, this partnership will use the collective strength of GSK’s innovative and holistic approach to fighting malaria and Comic Relief’s highly successful fundraising platform  to work towards the WHO-endorsed goal of eliminating malaria by 2030.
