We are looking for a motivated and achievement-oriented individual who cares deeply about the health of populations globally and would welcome a chance to join our amazing team for the next 3-4 months. If you’re an undergraduate senior or a graduate student interested in working on global health initiatives and communications and have 20+ hours per week available, we’d love to hear from you.
Who we are
GBCHealth is the pre-eminent organization focused on business engagement in support of meeting global goals for health. Our vision is health equity and a global business community that contributes its assets, skills, influence and reach to create a healthier world for employees, their families, and communities. GBCHealth works with companies worldwide and with the United Nations, governments, academia, civil society & others. In September 2022 we launched future united, a global initiative harnessing the power of the private sector to fight for - and achieve - health equity, tackle the impact of climate change on health, and address antimicrobial resistance and future pandemics.
What does the role involve?
Responsibilities would include (but are not limited to):
● Conduct research on global health issues & corporate social impact initiatives in support of GBCHealth activities
● Support for GBCHealth virtual, hybrid & in-person events, such as the series of dialogues on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the Africa-UK Health Summit and World Malaria Day events in April
● Support engagement with future united award winners, such as conducting research on potential investors, tracking visibility opportunities and connections with partners
● Contribute to our programs, including the Corporate Alliance for Malaria in Africa (CAMA), through communications, research and other activities
● Assist with communications, including:
o Drafting and editing articles, case studies, etc.
o Media monitoring for relevant news and assisting with our social media activities across Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
o Assisting in the development of other communications materials, such as briefings and presentations
o Contributing ideas for our podcast series and other multimedia communications
● Compile/edit meeting notes as needed
● Additional duties as needed
Who are we looking for?
We’re keen to hear from you if you have experience or interest in the nexus of public health & business, and would like to work with an NGO that engages individuals and organizations working across both of these sectors.
You will have:
● Excellent writing and research skills for a variety of audiences (e.g., corporate, NGO and academia)
● Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
● Ability to work effectively in a small, distributed team environment (our team works remotely, and we are based in three continents)
● Strong organizational skills, with close attention to detail, ability to multitask and to be proactive
● Experience in managing competing priorities
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workplace or similar; familiarity with design software is a plus (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
● Fluent in written and spoken English
We would love it if you also have:
● Experience using with social media for academic and/or professional communications
● Experience working in public health (either with a business or an NGO) and/or in a low- or middle-income country
● Spoken and written French and/or Spanish
Compensation
The internship is not salaried. We offer a modest stipend (the amount is dependent on your weekly time commitment of full- vs part-time) and aim to provide our interns with a rich learning experience in a dynamic global health organization.
