The 17 companies that comprise the Private Sector Members Council (PSMC) are diverse in size, industry and geographic but all share a common commitment to defeating malaria. Through the PSMC, companies have an opportunity to not only shape high-level strategy and policy at the Board-level but to also engage in issue-specific activities through Working Groups, Committees and Task Forces. The PSMC is a unique entry point for private sector to contribute to the Partnership’s mission and through it companies can:
- Elect representatives to the RBM Board: The RBM Board has two seats designated for private sector (one Board seat and one Alternate seat). PSMC members elect the Private Sector Representatives to the Board. The current Board Members are Jon Pender (Glaxo SmithKline), Lisa Goldman (Sumitomo Chemical) and Sherwin Charles (Nando’s, serving as Alternate).
- Input into high-level policy discussions and Board deliberations The PSMC participates in Board-level policy and governance discussions, bringing the private sector’s perspective to deliberations at the highest level of the Partnership. Some PSMC members may also participate in RBM Board meetings. PSMC members must comply with RBM’s Declaration of Interest policy and a Conflict of Interest policy in order to participate in Board meetings.
- Participate in RBM Working Groups and Task forces: PSMC members may participate in Board-mandated RBM Working Groups and Task forces.
