Ochuko Keyamo-Onyige has been invited by Unitaid to join the Steering Committee for the New Nets Project (NNP) and Net Transition Initiative.
The NNP aims to catalyze the market introduction of dual-AI ITNs. It is co-financed by the Global Fund and Unitaid, led by IVCC and supported by the US President’s Malaria Initiative.
The Global Fund has recently committed additional funding to a new strategic initiative, the Net Transition Initiative (NTI), that works to address remaining barriers to early scale-up of dual-AI ITNs following market entry. The two projects have complementary objectives and activities, and will overlap through the end of 2022, with NTI continuing until the end of 2023.
The NNP and NTI share a Steering Committee, which is made up of key partners with a strong interest in malaria and ITNs. The Steering Committee has an important advisory role for strategic and technical matters, including elevating the perspectives of partner countries and the private sector.
The committee is currently made up of members from The Global Fund, Unitaid, PMI, Gates Foundation, Africa Leaders Malaria Alliance, the i2i Initiative, the Malaria Elimination Initiative at MHRC, Roll Back Malaria West and Central Africa Network, and national malaria control programs.
