Mercy Machiya joined GBCHealth in 2018 as the Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Business Coalition for Health (ABCHealth). She has had a rich international career, spanning a period of 20 years, working progressively in senior management positions in government, and renowned private and NGO organizations; providing leadership to institutions focusing on health research, HIV & AIDS, Malaria and TB, public sector reform and sustainable development, and health systems strengthening and management consultancy. She has served on various regional and international boards, including the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board.
A long-standing champion of a people-centered approach to health and development, she aims to build a responsive, effective and result-driven regional secretariat that will steer private sector investments towards universal health coverage and accelerate progress toward attainment of Agenda 2063 and the SGDs, while tackling emerging threats.
A certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and PRINCE2 professional, Mercy holds an MBA from MANCOSA, South Africa.
