Daniel serves as Focal Point for the Private Sector Delegation (PSD) to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He acts as spokesperson for the PSD to Global Fund Board constituencies and committees, Global Fund Secretariat, and other key stakeholders. Daniel provides strategic advice to PSD leadership and members, guiding the team on critical substantive and governance-related issues. Within this role, he coordinates communications and joint partnerships between the PSD and the Global Fund, and grows private sector engagement in Global Fund initiatives and policy discussions.
Daniel has occupied several managerial positions at the United Nations, the Pan American Development Foundation and the Organization of American States, providing strategic support and advisory services to high-level executives in the areas of advocacy, multi-stakeholder coordination, strategic planning, communications, partnerships, and operational excellence. Typically working in the human development and global health space, he has also conducted work in the areas of monitoring and evaluation, business process reengineering, institutional reform, and civil society strengthening.
Daniel, a national of Venezuela, holds an undergraduate degree in political science and international relations from Universidad Central de Venezuela, a specialization diploma in public management from Universidad Metropolitana, and a master’s degree in social policy and development and a graduate certificate in nonprofit studies from the University of Texas at Austin. He was also a graduate fellow at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame, the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, and the Center for Public Policy of the Institute of Advanced Studies of Administration in Venezuela.
