The Global Fund is a unique public-private partnership governed by an international Board. Members of the Board include representatives of donor and recipient governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, private foundations and affected communities.
Key international development partners are also represented on the Board, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), public-private partnerships (Roll Back Malaria, the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH), Stop TB, UNITAID) and the World Bank.
The current Board Chair is Aida Kurtovic, Executive Director of Partnerships in Health from Bosnia-Herzegovina and former Board Vice-Chair. Amb. John Simon, serves as Vice-Chair of the Board. The private sector is represented on the Board by Board Member Board member Paul Schaper (Merck & Co, Inc.) and Alternate Board member Sherwin Charles (Nando’s/Goodbye Malaria).
